A meeting of the Working Group on the Improvement of the Civil Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held

On 21 November 2025, the next meeting of the Working Group on “Improvement of the Civil Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was held in a hybrid format at the Institute of Law and Human Rights.

Opening the meeting, the head of the working group and Executive Director of the Center for Legal Expertise and Legislative Initiatives, Samir Mahmudov, gave information about the work carried out during the past period. He presented the general goals, content, and structure of the Concept Document related to Chapters 1 and 2 of the Civil Code, as well as the newly proposed Chapter 2-1 (“Personal Rights”). He also provided information about the local and foreign legal sources studied while preparing the new chapter.

During the meeting, the Concept Document was discussed, and the members of the working group shared their opinions and suggestions regarding the draft. Later, questions from the participants on the presented parts of the Concept Document were answered.

At the end, it was stated that after taking into account the comments and suggestions of the working group members and other stakeholders, the documents would be improved, then submitted for agreement with state bodies (institutions), and finally sent to the members of the working group for their information.
