A meeting of the Working Group on the Improvement of the Civil Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held

On November 21, 2025, the next meeting of the Working Group on “Improving the Civil Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was held in a hybrid format at the Institute of Law and Human Rights. Opening the meeting with an introductory speech, Samir Mahmudov, Head of the Working Group and Executive Director of The Center for Legal Examination and Legislative Initiatives, provided information on the work accomplished over the past period. He brought to the attention of the meeting participants the general objectives, content, and structure of the sections of the Concept Document covering Chapters 1 and 2 of the Civil Code, as well as the proposed Chapter 2-1 (“Personality Rights”) to be added to the Code. He also presented information on local and foreign legal sources researched during the preparation of the new chapter.

During the continuation of the meeting, the concept document was discussed, and the working group members voiced their opinions and proposals regarding the draft document. Subsequently, questions from the meeting participants concerning the sections presented of the Concept Document were answered.

In conclusion, it was stated that after the documents are refined, considering the feedback and suggestions of the working group members and interested parties, the process of coordinating these documents with state bodies (institutions) will begin, and they will be sent to the working group members for information.
