The next meeting of the Working Group on Commodity Market Efficiency and Competition has been held

The meeting discussed the improved legal framework in the field of competition, rules promoting market competition, as well as the measures planned for implementation under the “Market Competition” indicator of the “Business Ready” project.

The next meeting of the Working Group on Commodity Market Efficiency and Competition, operating under the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings, was held. During the meeting, improvements in the relevant field under the World Bank Group’s “Business Ready” project, the Roadmap for 2026 covering improvements and communication measures related to the “Market Competition” indicator, as well as the work carried out during the current year, were discussed.

Speeches were delivered by Vusal Shikhaliyev, Head of the Secretariat of the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings and Head of the Sector for Monitoring, Coordination and Evaluation of Economic Reforms of the Economic Policy and Industrial Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Jafar Babayev, Head of the Working Group on Commodity Market Efficiency and Competition and Advisor to the Chairman of the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the speeches, information was provided on the key objectives set out in the relevant Roadmap. The importance of strengthening institutional cooperation and ensuring effective communication in priority areas was also emphasized.

In addition, a report-style presentation was delivered on the activities carried out by the Working Group during the current year. The role of the Competition Code in enhancing the efficiency of the business environment was highlighted, and discussions were held on the improved legal framework in the field of competition, regulations promoting market competition, and the measures planned for implementation under the “Market Competition” indicator of the “Business Ready” project.

Furthermore, legislative provisions encouraging the participation of business entities in public procurement were discussed, including the effectiveness of the digitalization of procurement processes.
